Welcome to the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC). This website has been designed to help business make sense of the noodle bowl or jigsaw puzzle of acronyms concerning the myriad trade agreements in force across Asia Pacific. One of our goals is to help business understand these agreements in a language that makes sense. This is the first of regular updates to this site and do look out for future versions in Chinese and Spanish.

PBEC believes that through cooperation and the exchange of ideas, the private sector can work with governments to promote significant growth and prosperity in Asia Pacific.

Independent, apolitical, forward looking and pro-business, the Pacific Basin Economic Council aspires to champion and promote regional economic integration and growth.

PBEC membership is comprised of senior business leaders with interests in Asia Pacific.

Engaged and committed to expanding trade and investment in the region, PBEC members forge business relationships and address emerging issues most likely to affect the development of our globalized economies.

PBEC’s multinational membership includes senior executives from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Colombia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, The Philippines, Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and the United States.
